Troubleshooting Guide

Last updated:

Having issues with your Chargie? Don’t worry — most problems have simple solutions. Find your fix below.

1

App won’t connect to Chargie

Connection issues are usually physical. Check these first:

✅ Quick Fix

1Check cable connections at both ends
2Try a different USB cable
3Use a 2A+ charger (stronger is better)
4Change one component at a time

LED Status:

Green = Powered
Red = Passing Power

2

Woke up with 100% charge

This happens due to aggressive battery optimization on some phones. The OS puts Chargie to sleep.

Tested & Compatible:

Google Pixel 3a
Huawei P20 Pro
OnePlus 7T
Samsung Galaxy S6
Xiaomi Pocophone
iPhone 12
iPhone 6s
Huawei P8 Lite
✅ Fix Battery Optimization

1Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization
2Find “Chargie” → Select “Don’t optimize”
3Disable “Adaptive Battery” for Chargie
4Visit dontkillmyapp.com for device-specific tips
💡 Pro Tip

Newer Chargie devices have built-in firmware timeouts — they can stop charging automatically even without app control!

3

“Found but not plugged”

The app can’t verify Bluetooth matches the charging device. This is called validation.

✅ Solutions

1Use a stronger charger (2A+ for 3000mAh+)
2Increase Bluetooth TX power in app
3Toggle Bluetooth off/on or reboot
4Ensure firm cable connections
⚠️ Weak Charger Issue

Power surge at switch-on can reset Chargie, breaking the connection.

4

Can’t see my Chargie

If your Chargie isn’t appearing in the scan list:

✅ Troubleshooting

1Check green LED is on
2Enable “Show all BLE devices” in Settings
3Replug your Chargie
4Reboot your phone (fixes 99% of cases)

Note: Every Chargie is tested before shipping. Components are ESD protected up to 10,000V.

5

Power keeps toggling

Usually caused by PD (Power Delivery) chargers.

⚠️ PD Compatibility

Standard Chargie doesn’t support PD chargers. PD negotiation disrupts Bluetooth.

✅ Solutions

1Use a non-PD charger (standard 5V)
2Disable “Auto validation” in Settings
3Connect manually each time
4Upgrade to Chargie C for PD support

6

Previously working Chargie fails

If a Chargie stops connecting (shows in scan but won’t connect):

✅ Recovery Steps

1Reboot your phone first
2Update to latest app version
3Check cable makes firm contact
4Try a different cable
5Test with another phone

7

USB-C PD Charger Issues

Power Delivery chargers need special handling:

Standard vs Chargie C

Standard: Not compatible with PD

Chargie C: Full PD support

✅ Best Practices

1Use Chargie C for PD chargers
2Use USB-PD certified chargers
3Use high-quality USB-C cables
